Description

MK Knives & Tools Flin is a compact tool created for everyday carry (EDC). Lightweight and easy to handle, it combines a wharncliffe-style blade with a subtle belly along the cutting edge, enhancing its versatility in daily tasks. Paired with a precisely fitted Kydex sheath, the Flin easily slips into a pocket, organizer, or backpack — always ready when you are.

*Presented Flin features a blade made from high-performance European M390 steel with a bead blasted finish. The wharncliffe blade is executed with an innovative Fine Groove Grind (FGG) to improve cutting performance.

**The handle scales, fitted over the internal tang, are made from green G10. The set includes a black Kydex sheath equipped with an UltiClip Slim 3.3 and a prototype pictogram.

Prototypes

The first units of a new MK Knives & Tools project are traditionally marked with a prototype logo or symbol on the Kydex sheath. Depending on the design, style, and available surface area, the marking may appear once or multiple times. It is usually a dedicated pictogram — a laser engraving created specifically to represent the prototype stage of the design process.

Flin – Everyday Reliability and Strength in a Compact Build

The Flin is a design where form follows function. Created for everyday use, it is crafted from modern, durable, and easy-to-maintain premium steels such as M390 and Elmax.

The handles are made from G10, micarta, or various types of carbon fiber, including exclusive FatCarbon variants found particularly in collector editions. The sheaths are crafted from Kydex or Holstex, depending on the configuration.

For carry options, the knife uses the trusted and widely appreciated UltiClip 3.3, an American-made solution that can be removed when a loose pocket carry is preferred.

Despite its compact size, the Flin delivers full-scale material quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail — all signatures of MK Knives & Tools.

Premium Steel at the Core

EXCELLENT EUROPEAN STEEL: The Böhler M390 powder-metallurgy steel is a premium alloy known for outstanding edge retention, high wear resistance, and excellent corrosion resistance. It balances hardness with toughness, making it ideal for both EDC and outdoor knives. Blades made from M390 preserve their sharpness for a long time and are easy to maintain.

Blade Geometry for Efficient Cutting

BLADE PROFILE:
The blade features an innovative fine groove concave grind (FGG – Fine Groove Grind). The hollow geometry enhances slicing efficiency, while the wharncliffe profile with a subtle belly adds useful versatility across a wide range of everyday applications.

JIMPING:
Jimping on the spine provides a secure thumb rest, improving control during precision cuts and assisting when additional pressure is required. This detail enhances handling, stability, and accuracy during cutting tasks.

Durable and Comfortable Handle Construction

HANDLE STRUCTURE:
The handle construction is one of Flin’s key defining features. Its hidden tang, designed differently from traditional narrow-tang structures, combines the comfort of a closed handle with strength approaching that of full-tang knives.

The tang is wide, running through nearly the entire handle. Two precisely machined scales are mounted onto it with a tight press fit and secured with stainless steel screws — not glued or pinned into a solid block. The hand touches only the scale material, which prevents discomfort during cold weather use.

HANDLE FEATURES:
The textured scales offer a secure, anti-slip grip. Mounted with Torx stainless steel screws, they complement the blade’s finish and complete the knife’s visual profile. The integrated guard, formed by the shaped scales, prevents the hand from sliding onto the cutting edge.

HANDLE MATERIALS: The most commonly used handle materials in MK Knives & Tools are:

  • Micarta – a composite made of layers of fabric impregnated with resin and pressed under high pressure. It is warm to the touch, has a natural texture, and develops a unique patina over time, highly appreciated by fans of classic design.
  • G10 – a laminate made of fiberglass and epoxy resin, extremely durable and resistant to water, temperature, and chemicals. It has a more technical appearance and maintains perfect stability in all conditions.
  • âžĄïž In practice: Micarta offers a warmer, more organic feel, ideal for everyday use and work with gloves, while G10 provides maximum durability and a secure grip even in harsh, wet environments.

LANYARD PIN: At the end of the handle you’ll find a pin for attaching a lanyard or paracord. It can serve as protection against dropping the knife during use or as an additional pull tab that makes drawing the knife from its sheath easier. This solution also helps prevent accidental loss of the knife. A matching piece of paracord, color-coordinated with the design, is included with the knife.

Kydex/Holstex Holster And Personalization Of Carrying Options

**KYDEX/HOLSTEX**. The knife has a holster made of hand-formed Kydex/Holstex material, which is characterized by high impact and scratch resistance, characterized by low moisture absorption, resistant to various weather conditions and many chemicals.

**CARRYING OPTIONS**: The sheath is attached to the belt using the included UltiClip Slim 3.3 steel clip. After removing the clip, the whole set can be carried freely in a pocket, which—given the knife’s compact dimensions—may be very convenient for some users.
The sheath is equipped with through-holes that can optionally be used to secure the set to a backpack or a piece of tactical gear using cord, string, or paracord.

The sheath allows for customization of how it’s carried. To achieve this, the knifemaker designed:

  • an optional Kydex buckle, which can be mounted on a belt or MOLLE* systems. The clip is not part of the standard set and can be purchased HERE. The clip designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To mount it, first remove the module with the nylon loop.
  • An additional option for customizing carry style is an angled buckle designed by the maker, which allows you to carry the knife on your belt at a chosen angle, either more discreetly or visibly. The clip can be ordered HERE.
*The buckle designed by the knifemaker is compatible with MOLLE systems. To attach the buckle, simply remove the UltiClip.
